The company launched a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 22 Starlink satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, on December 28 at 8:48 p.m. EST. This marks the first of three planned launches to finish the year, with the satellites successfully entering low Earth orbit 65 minutes post-liftoff.

The Falcon 9’s first stage landed smoothly on the droneship Of Course I Still Love You in the Pacific, marking its 16th flight and safe recovery. SpaceX’s reusable rocket technology has played a pivotal role in enabling 132 launches in 2024 alone, with two more missions in the final days of the year.
